I wish I had a picture!

Ok, so we have been so busy the last week that I have really slacked on the house chores. So, today is the day... Laundry, dishes, bathrooms, floors, windows, straightening up - you get the gist!
Well, like any other day, there is no such thing as doing anything uninterrupted (even by myself bc I get off on tangents!) :-)
But this morning started off nicely, a little coffee, Bible study, started the laundry, finished the dishes etc. Girls slept in late, so I was on a role! (insert tangent) Then I remembered I still haven't sent thank you notes for Maddie's birthday, so I sat down to work on those (which ate about an hour!) back to cleaning, switching the laundry, and doing the bathrooms. By then of course all the natives are hungry (by now it's lunch - yes, I did stop to make them breakfast also!)
I have to stop and make everybody some food. Some want sandwiches, but Abigail wants ravioli, however they want to eat outside by the pool. I quickly remind her that eating pasta outside is probably not the best idea bc it can make such a Mess. She convinces me she's going to be Sooo careful and wont let anything get on her or in the pool!
I decide to give it a shot, make all the food, serve the princesses out by the pool, serve Nate and then try to decide what I might want for lunch.
I try to keep an eye on them while they are eating and pretending with their babies! I happen to look up just as Maddie drops her cup hitting Abigail's ravioli bowl which sends it spiraling into the pool! I start laughing at the looks on their faces (which of course say, "oh crap! Mom is going to kill us!") then as I go outside that laughter turns down a bit as I realize Nate just cleaned the pool this morning and now I have to get all these fragile pasta pieces out without making a bigger mess.
The girls are a bit somber, not knowing how I will respond. As I get the net, they quickly remind me how the spoiled lunch ended up in the pool and how it was really Maddie's accident (not to be confused with the fact that Abigail indeed, did not make a mess of lunch!)
I'm trying to go slow and delicate when scooping out the mess, all the while having a conversation with abigail about how I am not making her more lunch that whatever she wanted, she would have to get herself! (before you feel bad for her / she's fully capable of attempting to get pb&j on a piece of bread - it's not pretty, but she can do it! AND I hadn't eaten yet!!!) anyway, I digress... So I'm scooping, talking, being watched by littles, and not terribly thrilled that i have to do this in the first place - when I misstep on the edge of the pool and take a dive into it! I come up out of the water, and the girls don't know if they should laugh or run for cover!
I am hysterical! Of all the times I have cleaned a pool, I have never fallen in, much less swam with ravioli! :-) I was laughing so hard, the girls started rolling and ran inside to tell Nate - who comes running out, laughing as well! :-)
Needless to say, I cleaned up the pool, from the inside! Wrapped a towel around me and ate my lunch outside with the girls! :-)
I've always heard about trying to enjoy the little interruptions in your day... But apparently God had to send me into the pool to teach me to have a good attitude about it! :-)

Sorry there is not picture this time.... But that would have been pretty funny!

However, I don't think I can without starting a new blog....

Any thoughts or advice???

Curriculum arrived already!!

In amazingly pristine condition, our homeschool curriculum arrived in the mail yesterday! We only had to wait 4 days!! Awesome! I can't believe the deal we got - God really directed our steps to this purchase! I could have easily bought a far less inferior set. It looks like the books were never even cracked open and everything is included, including storage boxes for manipulatives!!! I am impressed (and a little overwhelmed!) :-)

I started reading the instructors guides last night - its a lot - organization is going to take me a series of weeks if not a month! (not to mention I have to wrap up my nutrition class!) but I am stoked I have the opportunity to do it and be the primary influence in my girl's lives!!! Oh, Lord, make me wise and intentional!

We have also been talking about where to do school - where in the house. Stayed tuned for more news on that fun tidbit!!! :-)

Thanks to my sis for introducing me to the blog app - I might just update more often!! :-)

It's official!

So, it's official that I will be homeschooling Abigail and Madelyn next school year!

I have spent the better part of the last year researching (what feels like) all that is out there regarding homeschooling, and I have decided on what we will do for school. However, it's not cheap (at least not what I consider cheap) :-) so I've been looking for some used portions of it, etc. There have been many used listings posted and for whatever reason, it just never worked out to purchase them. That is until today.... I haven't looked online for a few weeks, and thought it was time to check things out again today. I found the COMPLETE kindergarten curriculum on sale at 50% off! So, I am excited to say that not only did I get a great deal, but it's what I wanted and plan to use for the next 2 years!

ALSO, I signed my contract last week to teach/"tutor" a class for our Classical Conversations group. I will be tutoring the girl's class - 4 and 5 yr olds, once a week. The girls are stoked and they will still be getting a little bit of a "classroom setting."

So, purchases and commitments have been made, and the ball will be rolling soon! I'm looking forward to getting everything in the mail - it will be like Christmas! :-)

(see links above if you're interested in what we're doing!)
